  • 1964

    Birth of the Sangam with Shri.V.D.Swamy as the Chairman and Justice.Venkatraman as President in the presence of the then Collector of Thanjavur District Sri.Veda Narayanan

  • 1966

    MBNVS started performing Bhagavata Mela after the break of the faction which later registered itself under different name.

  • 1972

    Bhagavata Mela was enacted for the first time in Chennai at the Madras Music Academy, a performance that was revered highly at that time

  • 1972

    MBNVS conducted a "Lec Dem" on Bhagavata Mela at Madras Music Academy, the first of its kind in the tradition of Bhagavata Mela.

  • 1987

    Bhagavata Mela was performed at SAARC Conference, Hyderabad and captivated the Telugu Audience.

  • 1989

    Bhagavata Mela was enacted at Banglore and was widely acclaimed.

  • 1990

    Death of Shri.V.D.Swamy who was the Chairman of MBNVS until his last breath

  • 1992

    Bhagavata Mela entered Mumbai and was excellently followed by hundreds of Rasikas.

  • 1993

    Lec Dem on Bhagavata Mela conducted at Madras Music Academy by the then Chairman Smt. Indu Raman.

  • 1994

    MBNVS released a book on Brahmshri.Venkatrama Sastrigal's Bhagavata Mela Play "Markandeya" with lyrics edited by two Pandits of Thanjavur Saraswathy Mahal Library, Late.Viswanatha Iyer and Sri.Srinivasa Iyer, who both are also artists in the Sangam in various capacities.

  • 2000

    "Trial by Fire". On the day of Prahladha Charithram, MBNVS lost more than Rs 20 Lakhs to an electric fire accident.

  • 2000

    MBNVS came back and continued the tradition with great difficulty despite a heavy loss.

  • 2002

    MBNVS performed its first Marathi production, "Shakunthalam" at Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru Center, Worli, Mumbai to a full house audience. MBNVS also performed four plays at Mumbai.

  • 2002

    Padmasri.Dr.Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty takes over as the Chairman of MBNVS leading to the renaissance of the art form.

  • 2003

    MBNVS performed "Prahladha Charithram" at Marga festival, Chennai.

  • 2007

    MBNVS premiered a new Tamil Opera "Aandaal Thirukalyanam".

  • 2008

    MBNVS started becoming a regular feature in Chennai Music Festival in december with the very first programme at Kalashethra, followed by ones at Brahma Gana Sabha and Sri Krishna Gana Sabha.

  • 2009

    MBNVS performed at Brahma Gana Sabha, Nungambakkam Cultural Academy and Chinna Melam festival

  • 2010

    MBNVS, ten years after the great loss to fire, built a permanent Auditorium for Bhagavata Mela at Melattur in the Sangam's land and christened it as "Dr.Nalli Auditorium". It also built a new temple for the presiding deity "Lakshmi Narasimha" at Narayana Theertham, Melattur where a temple of Narasimha was supposed to have stood a millennium back. The temple and the Auditorium are the only "Living structures" of the Bhagavata Mela tradition today. Sangam also performed at Kamani Auditoirum, Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi and our artist Sri.Gobi became the first recipient of "Utsad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar" award by Sangeet Natak Academy for the discipline of Bhagavata Mela.

  • 2011

    Sangam performed widely outside Melattur at Chennai - Tagore Auditorium, Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Brahma Gana Sabha, Nungambakkam Cultural Academy, Srirangam and Thanjavur. Our performance on the day of cyclone "Thane" drew a crowd of 500 people, leading to The Hindu appreciating the performance with a special coverage on the stormy day

  • 2012

    Sangam's performance at "Svanubhava" programme at Kalashethra was followed by a standing ovation from the crowd of 1000 odd awed spectators. MBNVS also performed at Music Season with wide appreciation.

  • 2013

    MBNVS began its journey for the current year with two appreciated performances in "Mylapore Festival", Chennai in January.
